§ 10 / Refunds & Billing

Refunds, billing, and auto-renewal

This page explains what you pay for, when a charge can and cannot be refunded, and how the auto-renewing Care Plan subscription is billed and cancelled.

These Refunds & Billing Terms describe how Press charges for its paid services, when payments can and cannot be refunded, and how the recurring Care Plan subscription renews and is cancelled. They are written to be read alongside the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, and to surface the consumer protections that may apply to you depending on where you live.

In these terms, "Press", "we", "us" and "our" mean PRESS STUDIO (SSM Registration No. RA0136980-M), a business registered in Malaysia with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). "You" means the individual or business that requests a preview, buys a website, or subscribes to the Care Plan. Prices on this page are displayed and charged in one of three supported currencies: US Dollars (USD), Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), or Singapore Dollars (SGD), based on your location when you request a preview; the currency quoted to you is the currency charged at checkout, and the currency of your first purchase becomes your account's billing currency for all later charges (the Care Plan and add-ons). See Currency, taxes, and statement descriptor.

Note

This document is provided for transparency and ease of reference. Where you have entered into a separate signed agreement with Press, or where the Terms of Service contain a more specific provision, those terms govern to the extent of any conflict. This page is a draft prepared for review by qualified counsel; it is not legal advice and does not state that Press is compliant with any particular law.

01 Who can buy and how a purchase is made

To buy a website, an add-on, or a Care Plan from Press, you must be at least 18 years old (the age of majority in Malaysia under the Age of Majority Act 1971) and able to enter into a binding contract. If you are buying on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to bind that business. This requirement reflects that, under the Contracts Act 1950, agreements with a person who lacks contractual capacity are generally not enforceable.

You make a purchase by reviewing the price and these terms, indicating your acceptance (for example, by ticking the acknowledgement box and/or completing the checkout), and paying. Acceptance and payment are recorded electronically; the Electronic Commerce Act 2006 supports the use of electronic acceptance to form a contract. The charge confirms your order; we describe what each charge buys, and when it can be refunded, in the sections below.

02 The free preview costs nothing

Requesting a preview is free. We hand-build a website preview of up to four pages (plus one opt-in form or one basic API integration) and deliver it within five working days. No card is required to request a preview, and requesting one places you under no obligation to buy anything. Once we tell you your preview is ready, it stays available for 7 days; if you do not keep it within that window, the file closes and the preview files are deleted.

If you look at your preview and decide not to keep it, that is the end of the matter: your file is closed and you are never charged. You do not need to cancel anything, and there is nothing to refund because nothing was paid. You can also ask us to delete your brief, draft, and any uploaded logo at any time. See the Privacy Policy for how deletion-on-request works.

03 The keep purchase: one-time $299 / RM899 / S$399

If you decide to keep your website (the "Hand-set website"), the price is a single one-time payment, USD $299, MYR RM899, or SGD S$399, in your quoted billing currency, charged up front at checkout. Payment is taken through our payment processor, Stripe; Press never sees or stores your full card number (see Privacy Policy).

This is a single charge: you are charged the full keep fee once, at the time you check out. There is no deposit, no instalment, and no separate balance taken later. On full payment, ownership of the delivered website source code transfers to you, as described in the Terms of Service.

The keep purchase is non-refundable

The keep purchase pays for bespoke, custom work that we hand-build specifically for you, and you decide whether to pay it only after seeing the finished preview. For that reason the keep fee is non-refundable once paid. Malaysian law does not provide a general cooling-off or change-of-mind refund period for ordinary online purchases, and we do not offer one for the keep fee. Once you pay the keep fee, it is final, so please be sure before you check out.

This does not take away any right you have that cannot be excluded by law. If the website we deliver is defective, not as described, or not carried out with reasonable care and skill, you keep your statutory remedies under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, which, for a substantial failure, can include a refund, regardless of the "non-refundable" rule above (see Your consumer rights). The "non-refundable" rule is about change of mind, not about work that falls short of what you are entitled to.

Your 10 days of free, unlimited revision rounds are part of what the keep fee buys. If something we delivered is defective, not as described, or does not match the brief we agreed, contact us at support@gopress.studio before requesting a chargeback and we will work with you to put it right. This is separate from, and does not limit, any statutory remedy you may have.

Note

Nothing above removes any right you have that cannot be excluded by law. If a non-excludable consumer right in your country gives you a refund or cancellation right despite the above, that right prevails. See Your consumer rights.

04 Add-ons: one-time purchases

After you own a website, you can buy optional one-time add-ons. These are billed through our billing system (Kill Bill) and settled by Stripe against the card you have saved with us, in your account's billing currency. Current add-on prices:

Add-onUSDMYRSGD
Extra page$99RM199S$99
Extra opt-in form$49RM99S$49
Extra basic API integration$49RM99S$49
Extra revision (additional revision round)$49RM99S$49

Every kept website includes free revisions for 10 days, counted from the date you pay the keep fee (your date of purchase). During those 10 days you may request as many revision rounds as you need at no extra charge. After the 10-day window closes, each additional revision round requires buying the Extra revision add-on at $49 / RM99 / S$49 (in your billing currency).

When add-ons are refundable

Each add-on funds bespoke work made to your request. Add-ons are non-refundable once purchased. As with the keep purchase, this rule is about change of mind and does not limit any right you have that cannot be excluded by law: if the add-on we deliver is defective, not as described, or not carried out with reasonable care and skill, your statutory remedies under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 still apply (see Your consumer rights).

05 The Care Plan: auto-renewing subscription

Note

Automatic renewal: please read. The Care Plan is a subscription that renews automatically at the end of each term and charges your saved card automatically until you cancel. The key terms are set out clearly below so you know what you are agreeing to before you subscribe.

The Care Plan is an optional recurring subscription. It includes web hosting; SSL certificate and domain renewal handled for you; up to two small content edits per month; and a monthly uptime and security check. You may choose one of two billing cadences:

PlanUSDMYRSGDRenews
Care Plan (Monthly)$19RM49S$29automatically every month until cancelled
Care Plan (Annual)$190RM490S$290automatically every year until cancelled (two months free vs monthly)

Clear-and-conspicuous auto-renewal disclosure

  • The plan automatically renews. At the end of each paid term (each month for Monthly, each year for Annual), your subscription renews for another term of the same length unless you cancel before the term ends.
  • You are charged automatically. On each renewal we charge the saved card on file the then-current price for the next term, in your account's billing currency, $19 / RM49 / S$29 for each monthly renewal or $190 / RM490 / S$290 for each annual renewal, without further action from you.
  • It continues until you cancel. There is no fixed end date; renewals continue indefinitely until you cancel or we end the plan.
  • You can cancel any time, easily, online. See How to cancel below, the same way you signed up.
  • Renewal reminders. Where required by applicable law (for example, California's Automatic Renewal Law), we will send renewal or pre-renewal reminders to the email on your account.

By starting a Care Plan subscription, you expressly consent to the recurring charges described above and to your saved card being charged automatically on each renewal until you cancel. We capture this consent at the point you subscribe.

How to cancel

You can cancel the Care Plan at any time, in either of these ways:

When you cancel:

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid term. Your Care Plan stays active and you keep access to its benefits until the end of the period you have already paid for. You are not cut off immediately.
  • No new charge is taken after you cancel (your card will not be charged for the next term).
  • It is reversible. Before the period ends you can resume the subscription, and it simply continues at the next renewal as normal, with no new or extra charge for resuming.
  • Part-used periods are not refunded. We do not provide pro-rata or partial refunds for the remainder of a paid term after you cancel. You keep access until the period ends; the amount already paid for that period is not refunded. This is subject to any non-excludable consumer right that applies to you (see Your consumer rights).

Switching between Monthly and Annual

You can switch your Care Plan between Monthly and Annual (and back). A switch takes effect at your next renewal: the new cadence and price apply from the start of the next term. There is no proration: switching does not trigger an immediate charge or refund, and the current term continues at its existing price until it ends.

06 Failed payments and retries

If an automatic Care Plan charge fails (for example, an expired, declined, or insufficiently funded card), our billing system will automatically retry the charge on a built-in schedule. We may also email you to ask you to update your card.

If payment continues to fail after the retry period, we may suspend your Care Plan benefits (such as hosting and content edits) until the outstanding amount is paid, and we may ultimately treat the subscription as lapsed. You can restore service by adding a working card in your account and settling the outstanding invoice. Suspension for non-payment does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already charged for prior, fully delivered terms.

07 Price changes

We may change the price of the Care Plan or of any add-on. If we change the recurring price of a Care Plan you are subscribed to, we will give you advance notice before the new price applies to a renewal, sent to the email on your account.

A price change for a subscription only takes effect from a future renewal, never mid-term. You may cancel before the new price applies (using either cancellation method in How to cancel) if you do not wish to renew at the new price. Continuing the subscription after the new price takes effect means you accept the new price for future terms.

08 Currency, taxes, and statement descriptor

Currency. Prices are displayed and charged in one of three supported currencies: US Dollars (USD), Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), or Singapore Dollars (SGD), based on your location when you request a preview. Each price is a hand-set price point in its currency, not a converted amount. The currency quoted to you when you request a preview is the currency charged at checkout, and the currency of your first purchase becomes your account's billing currency for every later charge (the Care Plan and add-ons). If your card is denominated in a different currency, your bank or card network sets the exchange rate and may add its own conversion or cross-border fees, which are outside our control.

Taxes. The price you see is the price you pay: Press is not currently registered for Malaysian Sales & Service Tax (SST) and does not add SST or any other tax to its prices. If that changes, or if a tax we are required to collect applies to your purchase, we will show the total payable before you confirm. Any taxes, duties, or levies that your own jurisdiction imposes on you remain your responsibility.

Statement descriptor. Charges from Press may appear on your card or bank statement as "PRESS" (or a similar descriptor). If you do not recognise a charge, please check this descriptor and contact us at support@gopress.studio before disputing it.

09 How refunds are issued

Where a refund is due (whether because we have agreed to one, because work had not begun, or because a non-excludable consumer right requires it), we issue it to the original payment method used for the charge (the card processed through Stripe). We cannot refund to a different card or by another method.

In the limited cases where a refund is made (a non-excludable statutory remedy under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, or our correction of a billing error), we initiate it within 14 days of confirming the refund with you. The time for the refunded amount to then appear on your statement depends on Stripe and your card issuer and is typically a further few business days; where a specific statutory timeframe applies under the consumer law of a market we serve, we will issue the refund within that period.

10 Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us first at support@gopress.studio. We can usually resolve billing questions faster than a card dispute, and a chargeback raised before contacting us may reverse a payment for work we have already delivered to you.

We reserve the right to contest chargebacks for services that were delivered or consumed, and abusive or fraudulent chargeback behaviour (for example, disputing a charge for a website you have kept and used) may result in suspension or termination of your account and Care Plan, without limiting any other remedy available to us under the Terms of Service. Nothing in this section affects your right to dispute a genuinely unauthorised or incorrect charge.

11 Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms removes or limits any consumer right that cannot be excluded by law in your country. The following is a plain-English summary of rights that may apply depending on where you are; it is not a complete statement of the law, and your local law controls.

Malaysia

  • Under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, a court may treat a contract term as unfair and unenforceable where it causes a significant imbalance to your detriment (Part IIIA), and suppliers must not engage in misleading or deceptive conduct.
  • Consumer goods and services carry statutory implied guarantees (such as reasonable care and skill and fitness for purpose) that we cannot contract out of for consumer transactions.
  • Eligible consumer disputes may be brought before the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia (TTPM), a low-cost forum. Choosing Malaysian governing law does not strip Malaysian consumers of these protections.
  • Note: Malaysia does not provide a general cooling-off / withdrawal right for ordinary online purchases. We state this so you are not misled into expecting an EU-style 14-day right where it does not apply.

California and other US states

  • Under California's Automatic Renewal Law (as amended), auto-renewal terms must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, with separate consent and an easy online "click to cancel" path. The Care Plan is offered with the disclosures and cancellation method described above.
  • Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar US state privacy laws you may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Press does not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising and does not use third-party advertising or tracking (see the Privacy Policy for how we handle data and the rights available to you).
  • Other US state consumer and auto-renewal laws may also apply to you; the same in-account / by-email cancellation methods are available regardless of where you are.
Note

If a right you have under your local law conflicts with anything on this page, that right prevails to the extent required by law. For help exercising any of these rights, email support@gopress.studio.

12 Governing law and contact

These Refunds & Billing Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and disputes are subject to the courts of Malaysia, except where a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the benefit of its courts or rules. This choice of law does not deprive a consumer of the protection of non-excludable provisions of the law where they live.

Questions about a charge, a refund, or cancellation, and formal legal notices and data-protection requests, all go to one address: support@gopress.studio. For how we handle personal data, see the Privacy Policy.

13 Changes to these terms

We may update these Refunds & Billing Terms from time to time, for example, to reflect changes to our pricing, billing systems, or applicable law. Updates take effect when posted on this page. For material changes affecting an active subscription, we will give notice as described in Price changes or otherwise as required by law. Your continued use of the paid services after an update takes effect means you accept the updated terms for future transactions.
